‘Redeeming the Story,’ documentary on Nigeria’s pentecostalism set for YouTube premiere

A faith-based documentary chronicling the evolution of Pentecostalism in Nigeria, “Redeeming the Story”, will premiere on YouTube on November 1, 2026.
The four-part series, compiled by renowned historian and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olasupo Shasore, under the guidance of Quramo Publishing, explores faith, hope and a journey of divine purpose.
According to the Continent Administrator of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Americas-1), Lanre Sobo, the premiere reflects the church’s commitment to preserving memories that might otherwise remain with individuals and their families, ensuring that younger generations can learn from them.
“Redeeming the Story is not a film about buildings, dates or the record of an institution. It’s about people, about transformation and resilience, about families who held on and about a purpose passed down from one generation to the next across continents,” he said.
He explained that amid the proliferation of stories of fear and division in the public space, more people need to know that lives can be rebuilt, families restored and purpose rediscovered.
“A new generation is growing up across Africa, Europe, America, Australia and beyond. Many of them have never heard these stories told in full. Not a pamphlet or even a passing mention, but properly, with faces, voices and memory. And for the first time, this story can reach you wherever you are, on the phone, on your screen, at no cost,” he added. The first episode will premiere on November 1, while episodes two, three and four will be released on November 8, 15 and 22, respectively.
