Osun poll: Fadahunsi raises concern over alleged killing of 12 persons in Ilesa

The Senator representing Osun-East senatorial district, Francis Fadahunsi, has raised fresh alarm over reported killings of 12 persons, including APC members in Ilesa.

It would be recalled that shootings were reported in Ilesa towns where three APC members, including Ward 4 women leader, were said to be killed on Tuesday in the Igbogi area of the town, leading to a combined show of force by security agencies.

Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday, the APC senator said the political violence in Ilesa was deliberately orchestrated to create panic and discourage people from coming out to cast their votes on Saturday.

He alleged that more than 40 people had been killed in the district in the last year, accusing the state government of failing to prevent the violence.

According to him, terrorism was created from Ede into Osun East, the stronghold of APC, so that people would not go out en masse to cast their votes.

Fadahunsi, who chronicled several incidents of violence in Ijesa land, alleged that four people were killed while 16 others sustained gunshot injuries during the crisis over the control of local government administration.

He also referred to the violence recorded in Esa-Oke in April 2025, alleging that four people were killed while 12 others sustained gunshot wounds.

He accused unnamed government officials and political allies of being behind some of the incidents, alleging that the violence was connected to political interests in the area.

He said, “In the last one year, over 40 people were killed in the district unchecked by either the police or the governor.”

Fadahunsi also alleged that some individuals with links to cult groups had been used to perpetrate violence in Ijesa land, naming individuals including Solomon Adefioye, popularly known as Solo Iwara.

“Go to Wesley Guild; there are corpses everywhere. The former Speaker, Timothy Owoeye, and Remi Omowaiye are in hospital instead of planning for the election.

“We observed that it is only Osun East that this government is terrorising. They created terrorism in Osun East, the stronghold of APC, for us to be destabilised, so that people will not go out en masse to cast their votes,” he added.

Governor Adeleke had accused Fadahunsi of inciting residents against Accord Party, calling on the police to arrest and prosecute him.
