Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has mourned the death of the Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ujuruezie Ancient Kingdom, HRH Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, who died at the age of 89.
Kalu, in a condolence message, described the late monarch as a respected royal father who devoted much of his life to the service of his people.
The senator said the monarch’s death came only a few months after the community celebrated his 89th birthday and 35 years on the throne.
He described Ezie Ukoha as a man of peace and wisdom who, for decades, worked for the unity and development of Ebem Ohafia while preserving the customs and traditions of the people.
According to Kalu, the monarch’s death was a painful loss to Ebem Ohafia, the wider Ohafia community and Abia State.
“I received with sadness the news of the passing of HRH Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, JP, the Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ujuruezie Ancient Kingdom, at the age of 89,” he said.
Kalu extended his condolences to the late monarch’s family, the Council of Chiefs and Elders, the Ebem Ohafia Development Union and the entire people of Ebem Ohafia.
He urged the people to draw strength from the monarch’s long life, 35 years of service on the throne and the legacies he left behind.
“As we mourn, we should also take solace in his long and fulfilled life, his 35 years of service on the throne and the legacies he left behind,” Kalu said.
He prayed that God would grant the bereaved family and the entire Ebem community the strength to bear the loss and grant the deceased eternal rest.
