Motorists and commuters have been stranded along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway following ongoing rehabilitation works on the Kara Bridge, located around the Lagos-Ogun border.

The development has resulted in heavy traffic congestion along the expressway, with motorists reportedly spending extended periods on the highway.

A viral video circulating on Wednesday showed motorists trapped in the gridlock, with one of them describing the situation as a standstill.

According to reports, the stretch of the expressway from the 7Up area to Berger was completely blocked as of the time of filing this report.

A motorist identified simply as Lekan Oluwole lamented the situation, attributing the gridlock to the ongoing reconstruction of the Kara Bridge.

“Due to ongoing reconstruction on Kara Bridge, everywhere is being blocked and standing still along the stretch and environs,” he said.
