A Chieftain of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Prince Ikechukwu Reuben Tabansi said that having known virtually all the aspirants cut across party lines for the November 6 governorship election in Anambra state, that Prof. Charles Soludo was more advantaged to emerge as an elected governor because of his overwhelming pedigree.

Tabansi regretted that the only setback for the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Soludo, not to achieve the goal would be on the deprivation of a party ticket by APGA.

Speaking to journalists yesterday after the monthly meeting of Soludo Support Groups at his home town, Nri kingdom in Anaocha local government area of the state, boasted that Soludo has all it takes to win the governorship election, for the fact that APGA is a mass movement of both the Igbo elites and the grassroots.

According to him, ” For this reason, this stands out the party from other rival parties, despite the fact that Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is coming up strong in the state.

“PDP is creating waves in the state with its many actors who are moneybags that don’t listen to anybody but to themselves.

“You should know that politics is a game of numbers and good strategies to win elections, as such, the outcome of PDP primaries will determine how strong it still retains the broad space.

“If the party survives the peculiar heat of its primary, then, it will be a tough nut to crack in the election, but I don’t see them winning the man of the moment in APGA, Prof. Charles Soludo. He is internationally connected with a wide knowledge of economics.

Reacting to the possibility of Soludo’s closest rival, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, in picking the party ticket, Tabansi described him as a mere ‘game spoiler’, stating that, ” I have only heard about Hon. Umeoji contesting for governor on the pages of newspapers but has not seen him as a serious aspirant.

“I have heard about his sister in the Zenith bank who is likely pushing him to contest, but we are not going to play politics by proxy. It is not going to work.

“The one APGA is suffering now is because the man(Gov. Obiano) we voted for in the last governorship election in Anambra delegated duties to his wife and we are seeing something different. The wife has no attachment with anybody, but in this present primary election for APGA candidate, we must resist any wrong candidate imposed on us or better still, we kiss goodbye to APGA.”
